Global professional services firm Deloitte turned to Sony to provide state-of-the-art AV technology at ‘The Edge’, its landmark Amsterdam HQ – named the world’s most sustainable office. The future-proofed solution includes almost a hundred 4K BRAVIA professional displays, an SRX-T615 4K visualisation projector and 29 Sony High Definition video security network cameras.
A landmark in sustainability
With over 100 offices worldwide, Deloitte is a world leader in auditing, tax, consulting and corporate finance services. In 2008, Deloitte embarked on construction of The Edge, its landmark Netherlands headquarters. Named as the most sustainable office in the world, The Edge opened its doors in November 2014.
The Edge
Central to the design concept of the new structure was a networked communications environment, stimulating conversation and collaboration between employees at natural meeting points throughout the 40,000 sq m building.
Sony AV at The Edge: Energy efficient and future-proofed
Realising this vision demanded a state-of-the-art centralised AV solution that would stay future-proof for years to come.Energy efficiency and low running costs were obvious prerequisites in an office building with world-leading sustainability credentials. What’s more, the AV solution implemented needed to be accessible and user-friendly for The Edge’s 1,000+ occupants.
To deliver against this brief, systems integrator AVEX BV has supplied and installed Sony displays and projection products as part of an energy-efficient networked visual communications solution around the iconic building.
BRAVIA 4K displays deliver more detail
Offering four times the resolution of Full HD, BRAVIA Professional 4K LED Displays were a natural choice for crisp, lifelike videoconferences and attention-grabbing digital signage in meeting rooms and public areas.
Delivering lifelike images with rich colours and high contrast, BRAVIA 4K displays ensure that Deloitte gets its message across with absolute clarity. The displays’ in-built HTML5 capability also made it easy for Deloitte to create high-impact digital signage, quickly and at a low cost. Easy to install and simple to manage, the energy-efficient screens are equally adaptable to standalone signage and large multi-screen applications. Their sleek, slim design integrates seamlessly into the stylish design of the building.
AVEX has installed almost a hundred BRAVIA 4K displays at The Edge: 13x 85” FWD-85X9600P, 20x 55” FWD-55X8600P and 65x 65” FWD-65X8600P. A number of screens installed in meeting rooms include U Touch overlay technology that turns BRAVIA into touch-enabled interactive display.
Bright, dependable 4K projection
AVEX has also installed a Sony SRX-T615 4K digital projector in the building’s main presentation/auditorium space. Offering a high 18,000 lumen brightness, the SRX-T615 delivers high-contrast 4K images with exceptional colour reproduction and contrast. Deloitte was impressed by the projector’s easy installation options and exceptional operating versatility. The SRX-T615 also features an innovative multi-lamp array, with six HPM lamp sources in individual cartridges to make lamp replacements easier and safer. In addition, lengthened lamp-exchange cycles and reduced maintenance requirements contribute further to lower running costs.
Effective video security, day and night
The Sony solution provided for Deloitte also includes 29 video security network cameras that are used to secure the premises. A total of 17x SNC-DH280 and 12x SNC-CH280 cameras have been installed in and around the building. Both models are HD resolution, day-to-night, IR outdoor cameras that provide outstanding picture quality and event detection for effective evidence gathering.
World-leading innovation
The innovative AV solutions installed by AVEX have contributed to Deloitte receiving a BREEAM certification of ‘Outstanding’, with The Edge being named as the most innovative and sustainable office building in the world.

Our aim was to make The Edge the best place to work. All the technology in the office is based on Sony´s 4K Professional Displays, which blend nicely with the design of the building. We also use the 4K SRX-T615 projector in our auditorium, which is very beneficial for demonstrating a large amount of critical data on the wall screen to directors during important meetings. Finally, even the CCTV security cameras are from Sony. We love Sony.”
